The horror and helplessness I felt on that morning is something I hope I wil never feel again. It is something I will never forget. It's something all of us should always remember. God Bless America

I heard on WTMJ that something had hit the WTC. My daughter, then 11, turned on the TV. We turned to each other in horror when the 2nd plane hit. Taking my kids to school that day was difficult. My husband was in Chicago on business. I prayed all day while caring for my youngest who was ill. I wanted my family all home with me, safe. If only the US could recapture the unity we all felt then so that no one would feel their loved one died in vain!

Our daughter"s wedding was to happen 4 days later and she wanted to cancel, however I told her if we do that they would win. I refuse to let anyone stop me and my freedom in America. Our son-in-law's family couldn't make the wedding from New York
Our and they lost a distant relative in the attack.I am happy that I stuck to my guns, as sad as this day was!

Watching and listening to the replays today brings that those memories back to the forefront. It was a day that we will... no, MUST never forget. The people that harmed us on that day still wish us ill and will stop at nothing to see that more of our families suffer this grief.

Another thought I have when seeing those first responders running into harms way, that thought is, "Thank God we have brave men and women like this, where do they come from?"

I will never forget about 911 about the planes going into the towers. I was in the towers in the 1980's i was only 9 or 10 years old. I was in the towers then. I will always remember being in the towers since it is no longer there.

I remember that day very well, was at work loading a trailer when my formeman came up to me and said a plane hit the trade center. We had no tv's on the dock but we all went to the main office to watch. The tears and how quiet it was we all could not beleive what we were seeing. My prayers are with all the families who lost a loved that day. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Other than the obvious horror I felt, I remember my daughter in Dallas calling me in tears. She wanted an explanation, but of course, I had none to give her. We stayed on the telephone, divided by a thousand miles, but united in sorrow.

Even after watching the events of that morning unfold on TV I still felt compelled to attend my first class of the day. I am glad I did because our professor began his lecture with a quote I will never forget. "I fear we have awoken a sleeping giant." These were the words spoken by Isoroku Yamamoto, Commander of the Japanese Fleet following the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Up until that moment I had not truly appreciated the significance of that morning’s events. It was at that instant that I realized we were at war and would be for many years to come.

It was a late night I was was sleeping when my daughter called from college to say "planes are crashing into the World Trade Center." I watched TV all day, not believing what I was seeing. I own a small restaurant and that night every customer was glued to a TV over the counter. Watching the replays of the planes crashing into the WTC, most people commented that it seemed so unreal it was like watching the special effects from a disaster movie. I get chills to this day whenever I see those planes and the buildings collapsing. We need to see those images much more often so we never forget or never let our defenses down.

I remember the day clearly, being in a tech school in Florida just blocks from where Bush was, the teacher coming in saying
"Um, our nation is under a bit of a crisis right now...the um..oh wow, the World Trade Center was hit by a plane, and they are saying it was possibly a terrorist act. They think it might have been a 727 or something."

We were all shocked and some didnt believe it. I came back in the room to announce that the Pentagon had been hit as well...It was one of the only days I remember almost step for step what I was doing that day.

What I remember best from that day and the days following was the amount of patriotism and togetherness that I have never experienced before or since those days around 9/11. I had a trip planned on that Friday after 9/11, and was in southern Indiana. I witnessed first hand small town USA patriotism as I passed through towns where fire fighters were at intersections of the town square holding out their boots for donations for the victims families and the enthusiasm and generosity that people had. The flag was flying everywhere, even from the highway overpasses. It was an extraordinary experience, one that I will never forget. I kept thinking to myself, this is what my parents must have felt during WWII. I wished, and still do, that I was young enough to serve my country, and want to thank those that are. God Bless all of you!

It was such a horrible day. The worst part was that my Dad travels all the time for business, half the time I have no idea where he is. I called his work number, VM said he was traveling. I called his cell...another voice answered. My heart sunk. But it was his co-worker he traveled with, my Dad was giving a seminar. They had no idea what was taking place. Also my sister & her husband were in Las Vegas at the time. I just wanted everyone back in WI. My Dad and Sister both had to get cars and drive back from Ok & NV. When I got home from work I did not want to be alone. I spent the evening at my cousins down the street, we just watched the coverage, hardly speaking at all but we were not alone.

I was in class when the WTC was attacked. As I was walking outside to my next class I noticed our campus was eerily quiet. It wasn't until I entered the classroom that I learned what had occured. It was surreal and our professor sent us home to watch the news. The class was history and she said "History is happening. We need to go home and experience this." It is important to remember our experience of 9/11 and pass it down for the future. God Bless all those who lost their lives on Sept. 11th 2001.

Would love to send out my blessings to all Americans today, it may not seem like it, but we are all a family, the family of America. So keep the faith, we will prevail. Showing the towers comming down should be shown once a week, so we never forget.. I for one will never forget.

I've heard that 9/11 has been compared to Pearl Harbor but what what scares me is that it took the whole Japanese Navy Fleet to inflict the damage it did back in 1941, whereas 5 years ago only a small group of terrorists where able to do more damage physically and emotionally.

I believe people should be reminded of this tragedy everyday. We are forgetting as a country why we are fighting this war. We need to stand behind our troops because they are fighting this battle everyday. I feel it should be a regular occurrence to play back live footage of September 11th. God bless all the families and friends involved in this tragedy and also the troops involved in fighting terrorism!!!

As a remembrance of that awful day I watched the DVD of UNITED 93 last evening. I saw it at the cinema a few months ago, but seeing it the day before the anniversary struck some raw emotions.
I sobbed thru potions of it, and the DVD's documentary "The Families and the Film" was equally heartbreaking.
I will never forget that day. Whether it is five years after the fact or 105, September 11, 2001, is an event that will forever be etched in my psyche.

I'm sitting in front of my computer like I was 5 years ago, feeling so many emotions. All I wanted to do was to get out of work so I could go find my Childern and hold them and tell them how much I love them, realizing all the family of all the lost souls would never be able to due this again. My heart and my prayers will aways be with them.

I woke up to the radio alarm. I remember John Belmont's voice announcing the time and date, and even commenting that it was 9-1-1, like an emergency. This was at 6:30 in the morning, and that irony has stuck with me ever since.

I was just heading over the hi-rise bridge when they interrupted an interview with Jim Irwin, and my first reaction was that it must have been some errant small plane (like a Cessna) and what an unfortunate accident. By the time I was pulling into our parking garage, reports suggested it was a larger jet, possibly as large as a 737. I began to get a very sick feeling, and as the events quickly unfolded I wanted just to go home.

The downtown Milwaukee area was nearly deserted by noon, and I remember feeling afraid as our building was next to Reuss Federal Plaza, which had been evacuated earlier. So had the US Bank Building. I saw a Journal in the box on the street. It had a photo of Jane Pettit, who had recently died, on the cover. I remember thinking how such a generous an

I was about to leave for France on a study abroad program- in fact, I was set to leave on Sept. 19, so I actually thought I'd record the news that morning so that the English students in France could hear an American newscast. I turned on the radio, flipped a tape into the cassette deck and hit the record button, and listened for a few minutes.

I heard something about a fire at the World Trade Center, and I thought, well, it's a skyscraper, I'm sure they have fires from time to time.

Then I heard that there was a plane that had crashed into the WTC, and I headed down to the basement and turned on the TV. I think I was watching ABC, and they had a camera trained on the WTC as it was smoking.

I think the next image I saw will haunt a lot of people's minds for as long as they live- the image of the second airplane coming into sight and slamming into the second tower.

I wasn't scheduled to go into work for a couple hours, but I felt, at that moment, that I COULD NOT be alone.

That morning, work w

I woke up that morning and faced a beautiful, crisp fall-like morning, thinking it was going to be such a normal, crazy day at work. Little did we all know it would a day we would never forget. I remember that day as if it was yesterday. At 7:50a.m. I pulled into my work parking lot, turned off the CD that I had been listening to and heard, "A plane has just hit the World Trade Center...." Thoughts raced through my mind, "What?" "Could it be a terrible accident?" I walked into work and everyone was chattering about the terrible accident that just happened. We all speculated that maybe the pilot lost consciousness, but how could he have been so low? I turned on 620 and a short time after the first plane hit and heard talk about it being a potential terrorist attack. NO, I didn't want to believe it. Could we be under attack? Shortly after a report came through that a second plane hit... then we all knew we truly were under attack. The fear that came over me, not knowing what would happen next. Reports that th

My husband was terminal with cancer with days to live and when I saw on TV what had happened, I thought my whole world was coming to an end. God Bless the brave men and women who came through the turmoil in NY and our country for standing proud.

I was able to watch the coverage on TV most of the day, but much later that evening I had to drive from Madison to Rockford, Illinois, and I couldn't believe the contrast between watching the events on TV and listening to them on the radio.

Everyone on the road that evening was driving in slow motion. I remember looking directly into the eyes of each person I passed--and we all had the same blank stare. The only sounds that night were those of the wheels turning and the broadcasts.

I'll never forget those 75 miles; the darkness, the way the cars floated down highway 90, the way we looked into the sky, how we hoped for someone to make sense of this. Time has never moved more slowly for me than it did that night.
